Open Hiwi Positions

Implementing Efficient Secure Computation

2021/02/01

We are looking for motivated Hiwis. We offer flexible working hours, interesting software engineering challenges, and hands-on experience in state-of-the art research in applied cryptography, taking into account the skills and interests of our Hiwis.

Motivation & Goal

We, the ENCRYPTO group, are looking for highly motivated students to support us in research and development.

As a student assistant, you will work with us on important research questions in the area of applied cryptography. We are investigating various problems that range from improving the efficiency of fundamental cryptographic techniques to interesting practical applications such as privacy-preserving machine learning, epidemiological modeling, and genome analysis.

With ENCRYPTO, you do not only have the opportunity to significantly advance your practical crypto knowledge and get extensive insights into top research and development, but to also actively participate and contribute with your own ideas to create your own impact on research. Additionally, you can improve your coding skills and enhance your CV for future applications in industry or research using the open-source projects that you work on with us. Your working hours can be flexibly determined according to your requirements (20-82 hours per month). Of course, we also take special periods such as the exam phase into account. Compensation is done according to the standards of the TU Darmstadt.

At ENCRYPTO, we are looking for students who are excited about software engineering. As most of our open-source projects are developed in C/C++ (see https://encrypto.de/code), it is helpful (but not required) to have prior knowledge on these programming languages. Moreover, some basic knowledge about cryptography is beneficial.

Beneficial Knowledge

  • First experience with C/C++
  • Basic understanding of Cryptography
