Welcome to the Cryptography and Privacy Engineering Group (ENCRYPTO) at TU Darmstadt. Our mission is to demonstrate that privacy can be efficiently protected in real-world applications. For this, we combine applied cryptography and algorithm engineering to develop cryptographic protocols and tools for protecting sensitive data and algorithms.
In the area of Cryptography Engineering, we optimize cryptographic protocols for secure processing of private data and build tools to make them accessible to non-experts. Such protocols include but are not limited to Multi-Party Computation (MPC), Private Set Intersection (PSI), Private Information Retrieval (PIR), and Private Function Evaluation (PFE).
In the area of Privacy Engineering, we analyze privacy in existing systems and apply cryptographic protocols to preserve privacy in various applications, often in interdisciplinary collaborations. These applications include but are not limited to Privacy-Preserving Machine Learning (PPML) and Federated Learning (FL), private contact discovery in messenger apps, private data analysis and data sharing, and medical applications.
